TRANSPIRATION CAPABILITY OF SEVERAL LOWLAND FOREST TREE SPECIES

چکیده
Plant transpiration is the key to restore water balance of mining site. will relate loss rate from land, therefore ability plants can be used as one criterion on selection tree species for post- land reclamation program. This research aimed compare capability among selected and potential through input rainfall. Seven native lowland rainforest commonly found in Bangka Belitung Islands were this research. We measured parameters affecting rates, i.e. stomatal conductance, leaf area index (LAI), subsequently calculated canopy conductance rates. The each was Shorea leprosula (4.47 mm/day), Hopea odorata (3.93 Aquilaria malaccensis (3.34 javanica (2.59 Terminalia catappa (2.01 Flacourtia rukam (1.96 Eusideroxylon zwageri (1.35 mm/day). During driest month, would have highest than that other studied species.

The Effects of Flooding on the Transpiration and Survival of Some Southeastern Forest Tree Species.
Field observations indicate that the distribution of certain forest tree species is modified by periodic flooding of the soil. There appear to be distinct differences between species with respect to the amount of flooding which they will tolerate. Overcup oak, for example, often occurs on areas which are flooded for considerable periods of time during the year, but northern red oak usually occu...

Neither host-specific nor random: vascular epiphytes on three tree species in a Panamanian lowland forest.
BACKGROUND AND AIMS A possible role of host tree identity in the structuring of vascular epiphyte communities has attracted scientific attention for decades. Specifically, it has been suggested that each host tree species has a specific subset of the local species pool according to its own set of properties, e.g. physicochemical characteristics of the bark, tree architecture, or leaf phenology ...
متن کاملTree species effects on stand transpiration in northern Wisconsin
[1] We quantified canopy transpiration (EC) using sap flux measurements representing the four major forest types (northern hardwoods, conifer, aspen/fir, and forested wetland) around the WLEF-TV tall tower in northern Wisconsin. In order to scale individual sap flux measurements to EC, we quantified the amount of sapwood area per unit ground area and the spatial distribution of sap flux within ...
متن کاملSoil changes induced by hardwood and coniferous tree plantations establishment: Comparison with natural forest soil at Berenjestanak lowland forest in north of Iran
Increasing urbanisation and industrialisation have led to a dramatic reduction in forest area, and now only culturally protected remnants of natural forests and some new plantations remain in most areas of the north of Iran. To investigate the status of the chemical and physical characteristics of soil under these remnant forests and assess the possible impacts of reforestation on soil properti...
